Chinese Fan Palms are slow-growing, but make striking landscape specimens. The Chinese Fan Palm has huge light green leaves that are becoming popular in landscapes as a unique ground cover plant and as a single trunk specimen tree. The Chinese Fan Palm is also a very attractive palm for growing in pots and planters. The Chinese Fan Palm is tolerant of poor soils, but does the best when regularly fertilized.  For those in the northern areas of Florida, this palm is very hardy and can withstand several degrees below freezing without appreciable damage. It will tolerate full sun or partial shade and is often used for its foliage as an under story plant growing under other palms, such as the Windmill Palm

It slowly grows to a height of 15 to 25 feet with large leaves that droop downward to give a very graceful appearance. This beautiful palm originates from Japan and is quite easy to grow. It will tolerate full sun or partial shade and is often used for its foliage as an under story plant growing under other palms, such as the Windmill Palm.
